Coaches need to begin soliciting their players and families and provide an update by July 15 to Mark.  Flyers will need to be handed out at all Texas based tournaments that each Stix team is participating in over the next 30 days to advertise this event.

Congratulations to our Texas Stix 10U White team for finishing 2nd at the Wildflower Classic Softball Tournament in Temple, Texas on June 19th - 20th.  The girls showed great perseverance and teamwork as they played a total of 9 games which lead them to the championship game on Sunday, June 20^th at 6:00 pm (their fifth game of the day). They fought back after losing their first bracket game on Saturday and were able to regain a winning position which enabled them to compete for first place. 

The Stix 10U White team demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and tenacity throughout the entire tournament.  They placed second out of 13 teams in the tournament and received a team trophy as well as individual trophies.  After the game, Coach Rey Chapa was quoted saying, “The girls played with all of their hearts, you can’t ask for more than that!” 

Congratulations to our 10 Under Navy team for their 2nd place finish at the May 15 ASA District Qualifier at Temple.

Westwood Coach Tiffany Gates will be holding a 3 day summer softball camp at Town & Country for players between the ages of 6 thru 12 this June 15 - 17.   Each Camper receives a T-Shirt & needs to bring a glove, bat, helmet, water bottle, and sunscreen.

The Texas Stix Fastpitch Club provides a positive atmosphere for young female athletes to develop their softball skills while buiding their confidence and self esteem. The Stix provide coaching positions to current and former college softball players to prepare our Stix players for high school and college ball.  Updated information about each Stix team is listed on the Team Page of the website. During the 2010 season the Stix will feature 9 teams, including two 18 Under Gold teams, and national and regional 16 and 14 under teams this year. Our younger teams will continue to grow and develope and feed our older teams during future years.

Our older teams will continue to be coached by current and former college softball players. Our younger teams will continue to play high level tournaments in Dallas and Houston to prepare the players for varsity high school softball.  Recruiting continues to be a high priority for the Stix. Twenty-four of our players have signed with College Softball Programs since our Class of 2007 - 7 from the Class of 2009; 12 from the Class of 2008; and 5 from the Class of 2007. College Coaches are invited to visit the Stix Recruiting Page which lists the profiles of 50 of our players, including 10 seniors.

In 2010, our 18 Gold teams will be playing in the major fall and summer showcases including but not limited to the Easton Elite Showcases, the Ronald McDonald Showcase and showcases in Colorado and other locations.  The Stix depend on the volunteer efforts of its coaches and monthly dues paid by the Stix families. The Stix participate in fundraising efforts and seeks financial support from sponsors throughout the community.  Please visit our Sponsors section to see how you can help our team. 

Congratulations to Stix / McNeil HS alumni Kelsey Cogdell for being selected to the American Southwest Conference West Division’s first team.  During the season, Kelsey was named West Division Conference Hitter of the Week March 2, 2010.  Kelsey finished the season with a .434 batting average (team high); 4 home runs and a .726 slugging percentage. 

Congratulations to Stix / Westwood HS alumni Haylee Staton for being selected to the American Southwest Conference West Division’s first team.  During the season, Haylee was named West Division Conference Pitcher of the Week three times.

From the Concordia website: 
Staton, who was selected as a pitcher to the first team, stormed onto the collegiate scene in her freshman season.  She posted a 10-6 record in the circle, along with a 1.56 earned run average to lead the Tornados pitching staff.  She continued her outstanding performance at the plate after hitting at a .324 clip with four home runs and a team-high 25 runs batted in during the season.

Tournament Rules:
4 GAME GUARANTEE - 2 Pool, double elimination bracket;
Local teams may play Friday night pool games;
No Gate fee;
Plenty of warm-up areas;
Town & Country - 90 acre sports complex;
4 batting cages - concessions on site but coolers welcome;
No pets, no tobacco.
