As A Sophomore (2007)
Named by Rivals as one of the Top 2009 Recruits to Watch, Haylee helped lead Westwood to first place in District 14-5A and the Area Championship in the playoffs. As the teams starting 2nd baseman and second pitcher, Haylee was a leader on offense and defense. Batting .352 with 17 doubles and 25 RBIs for the season, Haylee was named by the Texas Sports Writers Association to the All State 3rd Team. Haylee was also selected to the All District 1st Team for the second consecutive year, and received Westwood's team Golden Glove Award.
As A Freshman (2006)
Haylee was the freshman Centerfielder of the bi-district champions District 15-5A Westwood Varsity Softball team. Playing Centerfield and hitting in the number two spot, Haylee competed against several of the top teams in the state, including the Woodlands, Dripping Springs, Waco Midway, Huntsville, Brenham, Round Rock and McNeil. Haylee was named 2006 Westwood New Comer of the Year and was selected First Team All-District for District 15-5A.
Fastpitch Softball
Haylee is a very versatile player who can play Pitcher, 3B, SS, 2B and Outfield. In the fall of 2005, Haylee played for the Texas Stix 18U Gold and competed against some of the top Gold teams in the state of Texas (teams like Texas Elite, Glory Gold, Texas Heat, Bat Busters). She finished the fall with a batting average of .400 which was second on the team and finished third on the team in RBI’s with 10. She also pitched 52 2/3 inning, struck out 44 and finished with an ERA of 1.9. Haylee throws a Fastball, Change-up, Curveball, Screwball, Rise Ball and a Drop Ball and has been clocked at 61 mph. Haylee has significant select fastpitch experience with the Texas Stix including playing against the Russian National Team in 2005 and playing in the 2002 Fastpitch Nationals in Oklahoma City.
Personal
Haylee was born October 1, 1990 in Austin Texas & is the daughter of Jeff and Kathy Staton. She has one sister: Heather (21) who is majoring in nursing at Tarleton State University. Haylee has a 3.60 academic GPA at Westwood High School
